⚖️ BMI (Body mass index) is a terrible mechanism for determining if someones weight is at a healthy level. It simply ignores too many other factors that play an important role in determining someones body composition.

🦒 BMI is determined by height and weight. Now while it may be a rough indicator (very rough) for the general population. However for the gym heads out there who are building lean muscle tissue, it is far from accurate.

👬 This is why, the two individuals in the picture are classified as overweight. Despite the fact that they have no where near the same body composition. It doesn't differentiate between body fat and muscle… Somethings gone wrong with that for sure!

📬Now thats cleared up, whats the message here? The message is that too many people are guilty of focusing on numbers on a scale to determine ones fitness and happiness. What really should matter is how we each look and more importantly how we feel.

☹️ How many times have you stepped on the scale and been unhappy with the number that appears? Feeling disappointed with the result and determining your success from this number. We all do it and its hard not too. .
🤪 Truth is, these numbers can be a good indicator that things are heading in the right direction. However the most important factor is that you are making progress and you are happy with how you look and feel. Making small steps in the right direction.

📈 Try not to let numbers on a scale be the determining factor in achieving your end goal. However use it as a rough indicator that things are headed in the right direction.

📸Use the mirror and take progress pictures to monitor your physical progress, you will most likely be pleasantly surprised in a few months time.

✅ Above all stay patient, stay consistent and try to enjoy it. It’s far easier to get results when you are genuinely enjoying the process, do more workouts that you enjoy and find a diet that you can adhere to fairly easy, whilst still allowing you to live your life 💃🏼.
